The name LEAD was chosen after a period of consultation of all the Brothers in each Sector, the Alliance Council, and the General Council.

Anthony Rogers is the Sector Director for Malaysia and has his office at the La Salle Provincialate in Petaling Jaya. The new Provincial offices for LEAD will be sited at La Salle College, Kowloon, Hong Kong.

The Launch

LEAD was launched in Singapore last Sunday (15th May) whilst Malaysia inaugurated the new district in a simple yet significant ceremony at the La Salle University Hall in Petaling Jaya in the afternoon of 21st  May, 2001.

The historic milestone event was witnessed by some 60 invited guests, mainly alumni and lay associates. A good number of Brothers were also present.

Dato’ Bro. Vincent Corkery, notwithstanding his advanced age made the trip from Ipoh (some 202 km away) to launch the new district. His presence says much of his dedication and commitment, a fine example for us, the former pupils of the Brothers' schools to follow in our endeavour to preserve the rich heritage. Other Brothers present were Matthew Bay fsc (Ipoh); Ambrose Loke fsc (Malacca); Matthew Liew fsc, Andrew Loke fsc, Lucian Ng fsc and Augustine Julian fsc from Kuala Lumpur.

Guests were seated by 3.00 pm. They included representatives from member associations of the Malaysian Federation of Lasallians’ Association, La Salle Centre, Ipoh, and La Salle Learning Centre, Penang. After the welcome speech by the Chairman of the Joint Organizing Committee, a video presentation followed.

It was really a nostalgic and inspiring moment when the Brothers came up to the front to recite their pledge before cutting the LEAD inauguration cake accompanied by the singing of the La Salle School Rally. URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yloRAaiBdOY

After the group photograph was taken, everyone adjourned for refreshment and to renew fellowship.
