The PARC region is one of the six regions in the Lasallian world. It is being reconstituted with the inauguration of a new district known as the Lasallian East Asia District (LEAD) which comprises seven countries namely, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand - each with its Sector Director.
PARC (Pacific Asia Regional Conference) consists of : 1. District of Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea 2. Lasallian East Asia District 3. District of Colombo 4. Delegation of India.
In total there are 16 countries in PARC if Indonesia is included. Initial news regarding the reconstitution was published by our family network way back on 15 November, 2009. Bro. Anthony Rogers Bro. Edmundo Fernandez is appointed Brother Visitor while Bro. Thomas Lavin acts as the Auxillary Visitor. Our very own Bro. Anthony Rogers is the Sector Director for Malaysia and has his office at the La Salle Provincialate in Petaling Jaya. The new Provincial offices for LEAD will be sited at La Salle College, Kowloon, Hong Kong.The Launch LEAD was launched in Singapore last Sunday (15th May) whilst Malaysia inaugurated the new district in a simple yet significant ceremony at the La Salle University Hall in Petaling Jaya in the afternoon of 21st May, 2001. The historic milestone event was witnessed by some 60 invited guests, mainly alumni and lay associates. A good number of Brothers were also present. Dato’ Bro. Vincent Corkery, notwithstanding his advanced age made the trip from Ipoh (some 202 km away) to launch the new district. His presence says much of his dedication and commitment, a fine example for us, the former pupils of the Brothers' schools to follow in our endeavour to preserve the rich heritage. Other Brothers present were Matthew Bay fsc (Ipoh); Ambrose Loke fsc (Malacca); Matthew Liew fsc, Andrew Loke fsc, Lucian Ng fsc and Augustine Julian fsc from Kuala Lumpur. Guests were seated by 3.00 pm. They included representatives from member associations of the Malaysian Federation of Lasallians’ Association, La Salle Centre, Ipoh, and La Salle Learning Centre, Penang. After the welcome speech by the Chairman of the Joint Organizing Committee, a video presentation followed. Recorded footages of Bro. Superior decreeing the establishment of LEAD Thereafter, a number of alumni took to the floor to speak of their Lasallian experience and the ways to go forward.
