Remember the good old schooldays when we used to sing the School Rally with pride and gusto during the weekly assemblies, annual award days, annual sports days and at the many other occasions when its singing was a MUST item in the programmes? Those were the days.
Now 30, 40 or even 50 years down the road after leaving school, many of us who mellowed with age would invariably find ourselves ushered on stage to sing the Rally at the alumni associations' annual dinners and functions, while some ingenious younger few would find good reasons to showcase their vocal talent in vociferously resounding the Rally at casual alumni get-togethers (can be anywhere), birthday parties or even at a fellow's wedding. Whatever the occasions, it appeared that many could only hum or mime as they struggle to remember the lyrics. Truly a situation where the spirit is willing but the mind is forgetful!
For the above reason and following the requests of many, the lyrics are reproduced herewith and we invite you to walk down memory lane by silently singing the Rally in your hearts as you go over the meaningful wordings contained therein:
All through our college a voice is resounding Promptly respond to your duty’s sweet cal Hearken you all for the trumpet is sounding Your Mater’s proclaiming her watchwords to all.
------------------- Chorus Forward her children dear, ever with hearts sincere Render with joy to your Mater her due All that is vile reject, Heaven will e’er protect Sons of De La Salle valiant and true
--------------------
Labour will conquer your motto still bearing Forward with courage in ways that are just True to your standard be doing and daring As faithful La Sallians in Heaven your trust.
Onward and upward in life’s earnest battle Joyously bearing the brunt of the fight Nobly forgiving for aught they may pain you
And bravely defending the cause of the right.
If you like, we could email you either a "sung" version or a "music" alone version of the Rally if you will just drop us a note at and state the name of your alma mater. Please indicate the version that you prefer.
