Frontage of La Salle Centre, Ipoh The La Salle Centre was set up by the Brothers in 1980 to provide formation for students and teachers from Lasallian schools. Manned by full time staff, and supervised by Brother Vincent Corkery FSC and Brother Matthew Bay FSC, the Centre believes that the alternative form of educating person in settings outside the formal and traditional systems of education helps in the total human development of an individual.
The Centre runs formation programmes for the students and teachers of Lasallian Schools and it conducts two main programmes annually:
1. The Lasallian Youth Convention This is a programme for student leaders from the Lasallian Schools throughout Malaysia and Singapore. A Leadership Course in Session 2. The Lasallian Educators Conference The programme is tailored for the teachers in Lasallian Schools
The main objective is to pass on the Lasallian Tradition and Spirits to the student leaders and the teachers as well as some formation which would help them to be better in the roles they assume.
Apart from the above annual programmes, the Centre also conducts in-house leadership programmes for school prefects as well as training for teachers when requested by the different schools. Other times, outside groups also seek the expertise of the its staff members to conduct leadership programmes for them.
